Cold Room Panel 80 mm vs 100 mm — Choosing for Chiller vs Freezer

Cold room panel choice between 80 and 100 mm: what the extra foam does, what it cost per sqm on a dated day, the truck, and a worked chamber in each.

A cold room panel in our range is the 80 mm or 100 mm wall panel, flat both sides, 0.5 mm sheet on each face, 1.15 m wide, with a 40 kg/m³ PUF core. The choice between them is a refrigeration decision — a chiller holds a temperature near the outside's; a freezer holds one far below it — and the designer makes it. What a buyer can see is what the choice costs. On 23 September 2026 the 80 mm wall panel with 0.5 / 0.5 mm sheets was ₹ 1,569 per sqm and the 100 mm ₹ 1,744 per sqm, at the 3,000 sqm slab, ex-factory Kathua, GST and freight extra (factory prices on 23 Sep 2026). Specification and today's rate: 100 mm wall panel specification.

Cold room panel thickness: what 20 mm more foam does

Heat crosses a panel through its foam, and the resistance rises with the depth. A freezer wall faces a bigger temperature difference than a chiller wall, so it loses more heat through the same panel, and the plant has to remove that heat every hour of the year. Twenty millimetres more foam cuts the loss and the running load. Whether the cut pays for itself depends on the temperature, the climate and the hours; the designer works that out. The panel supplies the depth the calculation asks for.

The ceiling is a roof panel, 80 or 100 mm, a separate panel type with its own slab; on 23 Sep 2026 the 80 mm roof panel with 0.5 / 0.3 mm sheets was ₹ 1,559 per sqm and the 100 mm ₹ 1,736 at the 3,000 sqm slab.

Cold room PUF panel price: the terms

Ex-factory Kathua, cut to length, packed and loaded at the gate; GST and freight per truck extra; a slab is per panel type per order; made to order, pay to book; the earliest production date is a planned start, not a delivery promise.

The same choice for the roof

The ceiling of a cold room is a roof panel, and the same 80-or-100 question applies to it. On 23 Sep 2026 at the 3,000 sqm slab the 80 mm roof panel with 0.5 / 0.3 mm sheets was ₹ 1,559 per sqm and the 100 mm ₹ 1,736, a step of ₹ 177. A full 32 ft container carries about 550 sqm of 80 mm roof panel and about 450 sqm of 100 mm. On the 36 m × 24 m chamber above, the ceiling is 864 sqm of roof panel — below 1,500 sqm, and only the 80 mm version carried a 750 sqm trial slab that day, at ₹ 1,599 per sqm.

What the pages leave to the designer

Thickness by storage temperature, joint sealing, doors, floor insulation, vapour control and the refrigeration plant. The panel supplies foam depth, a flat 0.5 mm face on each side, a 1.15 m module and a stated coating; the rest is the design.

Frequently asked questions

Which cold room panel thickness for a freezer?
The refrigeration designer sets it from the storage temperature, the climate and the running hours. Our thickest panel on 25 Sep 2026 was 100 mm; the 80 mm is one step below.

What is the cold room PUF panel price per sq ft?
We price and bill per sqm. The figure on 23 Sep 2026 for the 100 mm wall panel with 0.5 / 0.5 mm sheets was ₹ 1,744 per sqm — about ₹ 162 per sq ft. The conversion is for reference only; the invoice is per sqm.

Can I order 80 mm and 100 mm together to reach a slab?
No. They are two panel types, and each reaches its own slab.

Does the cold room panel come with doors and floor insulation?
Our pages list the panel only. Doors, floor and accessories are the designer's and the installer's.
